Flow

In project management, flow is the smooth, steady movement of work through a process from start to finish. A team with good flow completes items at a consistent pace with little waiting, blocking or piling up of half-finished work.

Improving flow is a central idea in Kanban: by limiting work in progress and removing bottlenecks, a team lets items move through more predictably. Flow is measured with metrics such as cycle time and throughput, and visualised with tools like the cumulative flow diagram.
