Iterative Approach

An iterative approach develops a product through repeated cycles, refining and improving it with each pass rather than building it once in a single sequence. Early iterations produce a rough version that is then reworked as understanding grows and feedback arrives.

Iterating is about improving the same thing over successive cycles; it is often paired with an incremental approach, which adds new pieces each time. Both are hallmarks of adaptive ways of working. In the PMBOK Guide (8th edition) they are development approaches chosen to suit uncertainty.
