Prioritization Matrix

A prioritization matrix is a simple tool for ranking a set of options against agreed criteria so a team can decide what to do first. Items are scored on two or more dimensions – commonly value versus effort – and plotted or tabulated to make the trade-offs visible.

By turning a vague debate into an explicit comparison, a prioritization matrix helps a team agree on priorities and justify them. It is widely used in backlog refinement, product planning and decision making.
