Rework

One of the most challenging points and events that face the project management team and or the project management team leader over the course of a particular project comes when the determination is made that a particular component or aspect of the given project may not in fact be operating, functioning, or providing to project in the capacity that it was expected to perform in, and, in many of these cases, may in fact may be proving detrimental to the project overall. At this time , there are usually two options available to the project management team and or the project management team leader. In some cases, if the respective component or element is actually of minimal overall significance or importance, it may be scrapped by the project management team and or the project management team leader altogether. In others, however, if the component is important to the project as a whole. The decision may be made to rework the component. In these instances action will be taken to bring the component into compliance to fit the needs and expectations of the project.

This term is defined in the 3rd and the 4th edition of the PMBOK.
