A roadmap is a high-level, time-oriented view of the direction a product or project will take – showing major goals, themes or releases over the coming months rather than detailed tasks. It communicates the plan and intent to stakeholders without over-committing to specifics.
A good roadmap is a communication tool, not a contract: it shows priorities and sequence while leaving room to adapt as things are learned. Roadmaps are widely used in both product management and programme planning.
