Project Process Groups

The concept of the project process group is of particular importance for the project management team and or the project management team leader to fully comprehend in order to effectively manage the project. But what are project process groups specifically? Well, there are a total of exactly five specific project process groups that any project will require and or depend on. These five project process groups are specifically referred to as the initiating, the planning, the executing, the monitoring and or controlling, and the closing process groups. These project process groups, when implemented, will have clear project dependencies, and these project process groups are required to be performance in the exact same ordering or sequence for each and every project that is being worked on by the project management team and or the project management team leader. This sequence is in no way dependent on factors such as any particular application area and or any particular specifics of the applied project life cycle that may exist.

This term is defined in the 3rd edition of the PMBOK but not in the 4th.
