Plan Scope Management

The scope is an important element in project management; without it, it is difficult to estimate the cost or time needed to complete the project. In fact, the project cannot even start without it. It is an essential element that all project managers should learn how to identify. This is the reason why it is so important to use the Plan Scope Management.

The Plan Scope Management process is used in making the scope management plan. It documents how the project scope will be defined, controlled, as well as validated. This type of project management process is important because it directs as well as guides on how the project scope should be managed during the entire duration of the project.

This process requires inputs such as the project management plan, project charter, organizational process assets and the enterprise environmental factors. All of these inputs are necessary to create the scope management plan and the requirements management plan.

Defining the scope is very important in project management as it will serve as a guide on how the entire project should proceed.

This term is defined in the 5th edition of the PMBOK.
